Fancy Nancy Brushes

Fancy Nancy Examples

I have been playing with these wildly dynamic background brushes for some time and 'Fancy Nancy' was just the name that came to mind. They are brushes that are 'swished' about and behave in very unexpected ways.

I start out with a 12" by 12" document at 200 dpi for scrapbooking. I usually use a black background, then pick a couple of bright colors that look good together. Using either a Wacom Pen or a mouse I just click and drag in a random motion all across the document. I use several seperate layers so that the opacity and blending modes can be adjusted. Occasionally I apply a layer style on a layer as well for a totally different effect.

These brushes were developed in Photoshop CS2 on a Mac. I hope the spacing and shape-and-color dynamics will transfer. They have provided hours of enjoyment for me as well as many 'one of a kind' backgrounds.

I did not originally plan to enter them into this contest, but at the last minute I thought other people might enjoy playing with them as much as I do. I LOVE brushes and enjoy experimenting to see what they will do! I appreciate all the brushes that this site adds to my collection!
