Jigsaw Puzzle Maker

-----------------------------------------------------

Well, I've had a hectic month of assessments, but I still found the time (just) to finish a tool I've been developing for some time. I call it the Easy Jigsaw Maker.

This should appeal especially to anyone who likes jigsaw puzzles, and those who enjoy digital scrapbooking and other similar hobbies. So what is it?

Easy Jigsaw Maker is a tool which will help you turn normal pictures into 'puzzle images' for use anywhere you like. It can be used like a normal program on your computer, or even directly in your Internet browser!

What's more, because it's packed with options, it comes with a short video tutorial (just under 10 minutes), which will show you the ropes. It covers all the options, and a few extra tips and tricks which aren't obvious!

This tool can be used with your own pictures, or without a picture at all, as the basis for other graphics projects. Why not take a look:

Be sure to check out the training video! It's available right here:

And what's more, spread the word! Forward this newsletter to anyone who you think might like to hear about this free utility.

Using Seamless Textures

-----------------------------------------------------

There was some confusion about how to use the seamless textures I provided in last months newsletter. I've detailed the easiest way below:

The textures can be used with any graphics program, but for those wanting to use them in Photoshop, here is the simplest way.

There is no need to save the textures to any special directory, or to 'install' them for Photoshop, you can keep them wherever you like. Specifically, they do not need to go in the 'Presets/Textures/' sub directory of the Photoshop program.

When you want to use a texture, open the file in Photoshop, and select 'Select - All' from the menu. Then select 'Edit - Copy' from the menu. (On Windows, you can just press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C).

Then, in whatever image you want the background, paste the texture in on a new layer by selecting 'Edit - Copy' (Or pressing Ctrl+V).

To tile the image, simply keep pasting the image in, and dragging it beside the previously pasted images. You can merge the layers to keep them all together.

If you're tiling a particularly large area, then you might want to paste a few tiles, then merge the layers, then copy that larger area and begin pasting that in. That way you're filling in more area each time.

If you missed the textures the first time round, you can download them here:
