The Hand Tool |
Time to get your hands dirty... |

|
The hand tool is a neat way to move around your image, without having to rely on scroll
bars and window shuffling. It comes in especially useful if you are working with very
large images, or at a high magnification level. You have read my explanation of the
zoom tool haven't you? ;) Don't worry, it's not essential.

Simplicity Personified
The hand tool really is simple. So simple in fact that there is no option to reset the tool
to its defaults, because it has no defaults.
To use this tool, simply left click on your image, and drag the cursor around, and you will
move intuitively around your image.
The option bar does hold a few items, but three of these four have already been seen. The
option unique to this tool is the 'Scroll All Windows' checkbox. This applies when you
have several images open, and all are visible simultaneously. If the image windows are beside
each other you will see the effect easily.
Just like the zoom tool has the option to apply any magnification alterations to all windows,
this option synchronises the movement around them. Scroll one way in one image, the others
will follow. This is great if you are comparing several images closely, and saves you the
effort of manually moving around all of them.
Déjà vu?
The remaining three buttons we have already seen. They also appear on the zoom tool bar.
Right clicking the image with the hand tool selected will also display these three options.
For an explanation of these, just see the heading 'Final Fits', on the zoom tool page
here.
