Photoshop Snowflake Brush Set |
From snowflakes to snow, and ice to icicles... |
No matter what time of year it is where you are, there are always some places on Earth where winter is reigning.
This can bring harsh conditions, and make everyday life difficult, but this is only one side of the story.
Winter also brings out some of the most beautiful scenes and objects nature can boast. The snowflake for
example. So elegant in design, and yet every one is unique!

Wherever snow falls you'll see awesome, grand snowscapes, and tiny, intricate snowflakes. You'll find
smooth, icy ponds, and jagged, looming icicles. It's this versatile range of natural curiosities that makes snow
such a fascinating artistic subject.
So with winter approaching where I live, I decided to make a 'Photoshop Winter Brush Set'. That way including
these spectacular items in your artwork can involve less wandering about with a digital camera in the cold!
I've tried to tackle every angle:
You'll find snowflake brushes, both realistic and stylistic.
There are snow brushes, to set the scene or add atmosphere.
I've made ice brushes, for a pond or a background!
And even icicle brushes, to add impact or definition
So the term 'Photoshop Snowflake Brush Set', is a bit misleading, but I had to call it something! :)
Here are just some examples of the images I've created with this brush set, each of which took just a few minutes
to make:

Techniques
So I guess my advice is to make of it what you will. If you use it mainly as a snowflake brush set, you'll find
that mostly the brushes work best in white, although do of course feel free to experiment artistically!
If the 'snow brush set' is more your scene, then many different techniques work well. In the image above I've
used a simple, black silhouette idea, but variety is the spice of life.
If you plan to make it an ice brush set then one recommendation I can make is backgrounds. For example if you're
a digital scrap-booker, then there are some great 'texture' brushes for that kind of thing.
Finally if you're into the big scary icicle brush set, you'll find these brushes good for adding contrast. Both
black and white colors work well, depending on the context.
The great thing is, whichever brushes you plan to use most, they're all in one great Photoshop brush set!
I hope you find them useful. As always, any comments or questions can be submitted via my contact page.

I hope you enjoy these free snowflake brushes!
